The creativity implemented in this ad is the adjustment of their slogan. Instead of "Just Do It." they say "Just Don't Do It." to racism to send a message.
The concept used in this ad is the ability to connect to worldly problems. 2020 was the prime year of the pandemic and also the time where BLM was taking off due to the dozens of names of black people who were killed due to racism. Nike is a staple in the athletic apparel industry and to release a message like this, this gained so much approval and popularity from many and for sure met the values and needs of its audience.
This spoke on an individualistic and long-term thinking standpoint. In order to stop racism, everybody needs to play a part. It won't happen over-night which is a big reason why I chose this ad. "Don't sit back and be silent." is a perfect thing to add into the message here. Everybody needs to play a role, not just us as black people because white people are not the only culprits of racism. We need to respect all races despite the black lives that have been taken due to racism.Â
