Course Description

Art 3 - 3D Design is an advanced studio course focused on form, space, structure, surface, material, and craftsmanship. Students explore sculpture and design through clay, paper/cardboard engineering, wire, assemblage, found objects, and other available materials while learning to plan, construct, revise, document, and critique three-dimensional work.

Course Objectives

·  Apply the elements and principles of three-dimensional design.

·  Plan 3D work through sketches, maquettes, prototypes, and material tests.

·  Develop technical skill in additive, subtractive, modeling, joining, and assemblage processes as available.

·  Use form, space, texture, balance, movement, and surface intentionally.

·  Analyze historical and contemporary sculpture and design.

·  Create and document a portfolio of three-dimensional work demonstrating growth and personal direction.
