New Educator Induction Overview

Definition of a New Educator
A New Educator in KUSD is defined as an individual who holds a Provisional Educator License and has less than three years of teaching experience or holds an One-Year License with Stipulations from the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction.
Roles and Responsibilities of an Initial/New Educator
Attends New Educator Orientation at the beginning of the school year.
Understands the Wisconsin Standards for Teacher/Pupil Services Development and Licensure as demonstrated through Ongoing Support Seminars;
Attends and participates in Ongoing Support Cohort Meetings;
Applies best practices of instruction for student learning into the classroom;
Engages in reflection on teaching practices;
Works with an assigned mentor during first three years of employment to engage in professional learning in order to meet the diverse learning needs of students;
Participates in district professional learning opportunities during years 3,4, & 5 of their initial educator years;
Engages in the Educator Effectiveness System through developing a Student Learning Objective (SLO), Professional Practice Goal (PPG), and collaborate with building administrator in the evaluation process.
Completes an evaluation of the Mentor Program.
