Welcome to the Instructional Coach's
I am currently the Math Specialist/Coach. I'm the proud parent of an active OD Wyatt senior'21 and a rambunctious 2nd grader. I’ve been in education over 13 years, and I enjoy being a part of changing lives through education. In my spare time, I enjoy sports, spending time with family, and reading. I received my Bachelors’ Degree in Mathematics from Shaw University and a Masters’ in Educational Leadership from Marygrove College.
“I am committed to be a part of the change that I want to see in education”
Charla Washington coaches science teachers at The Leadership Academy at Forest Oak Middle School. Charla is a member of the Science Teacher Association of Texas and was awarded the 2018 Campus Teacher of the Year. She is a current fellow with the Teaching Trust and has previously taught 9th grade biology and served as Department chair, lead content teacher, team lead, a member of the Site Based Decision Making team and AVID site team member at Dunbar High School. She graduated from The University of Texas at Arlington with a BS in Interdisciplinary Studies.
For as long as I can remember I wanted to be in the education system. Once I finished my high school career, I chose to follow my passion of history with education. In 2017, I graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a bachelors in History Education. I am currently completing my masters in Curriculum and instruction from Angelo State University. For the past 2 years I have had the privilege to teach 8th grade US History at the Leadership Academy at Forest Oak. Before I taught at LAFO I taught my first year in Dallas where I taught World History and World Geography.
