Changhua County's Dacun Township, a core area for Taiwan's Kyoho Grape, has recently transformed traditional agriculture through events like the "Adoring grapes in Dacun - Grape Tourism and Cultural Festival," successfully integrating leisure tourism, cultural experiences, and industrial innovation into a comprehensive economic model. According to the latest 2024 statistics, of Taiwan's total grape planting area of about 2,300 hectares, Changhua County accounts for 1,100 hectares (about 47.8%). Among them, Dacun Township has 410 hectares of open-field grape cultivation, with an annual production value exceeding 1.5 billion NTD. Since 2023, the township office has been promoting the "Grape Tourism and Cultural Festival," combining the bicycle industry, innovative cuisine, and art performances. The 2024 event attracted over a thousand visitors in a single day, creating an economic benefit of over ten million NTD in the surrounding area.
Starting in 2023, the township office upgraded the traditional production and sales activities to the "Grape Tourism and Culture Festival," and in 2024, it introduced three major innovations. First, in terms of time and space extension, the event expanded from a single-day exhibition to a two-week series of activities, including the "Grape Orchard Open Harvest" pre-event from June 15 to 21, the "Main Event Day" agricultural market on June 22, a bike tour, and a concert, as well as the "Local Restaurant Grape Cuisine Festival" from June 23 to July 7, allowing visitors to deeply experience local specialties. Secondly, in terms of route planning, a special 10-kilometer "Grape Orchard Tour" bike route was designed, connecting attractions such as the “Sakura European Village” and the “Pijiao Wutong Temple”, with six experience stations offering interactive activities like DIY grape ice cream and fruit vine weaving lessons. An AR-guided system was also introduced, where visitors can scan orchard signs to watch videos of the cultivation process. Lastly, in terms of cultural integration, the event invited the Department of Hospitality Management at Da-Yeh University to develop "grape-flavored dishes," such as grape sweet and sour pork and fruit peel jelly, along with the "Grape Art Festival," which showcased installation art made from vines and fruits.
