Screenshot is a feature on the iPad that allows students to save pictures of the screen to the iPad.
Screenshots can support students to:
document learning
increase productivity
study for tests and quizzes
hand in digital copies of work done on paper
keep track of their progress on tasks
To take a Screenshot on an iPad with a Home Button in iPadOS 18:
Tap each image below to learn more, and zoom in to get a closer look.
Quickly press and release the top button and the Home Button at the same time.
A thumbnail of the screenshot will appear in the lower-left corner of the screen.
Tap the thumbnail to view and edit the screenshot or swipe to the left to remove the thumbnail from the screen.
The screenshot will be saved to the Photos app.
To take a Screenshot using the Screenshot Accessibility Shortcut on an iPad in iPadOS 18:
Go to the "Settings" app.
Tap "Multitasking and Gestures".
Swipe down to find and toggle on "Swipe Finger from Corner".
Select the action that will happen when swiping one finger from the "Bottom Left Corner" or "Bottom Right Corner".
Return to the screen that a Screenshot will be taken of. Then swipe one finger from the bottom left corner (or right, depending on the selection in step 4) to take a Screenshot of the page.
Tap "Done" in the top left corner, then tap "Save to Photos" to save the Screenshot in the Photos app.

add details to photos in Science class. Take pictures and highlight or draw over top of a picture.
create a personalized digital study guide for History. Save screenshots of relevant web pages, online articles, educational videos, important concepts, definitions, or examples for offline access to study materials.
design a digital portfolio for Visual Art. Add screenshots of their work to a digital folder to share with others.
document their work during a collaborative project. Take screenshots of their work to share with teachers.
