The iPad can be set up to change how the text looks. Students can make the words bigger and choose a style that’s easier to read.
Text Size can support students to:
increase focus and attention
build independence
boost confidence in reading
enhance reading stamina
improve letter identification
To change the Text Size on an iPad in iPadOS 18:
Tap each image below to learn more, and zoom in to get a closer look.
Go to "Settings".
Tap "Accessibility".
Tap "Display & Text Size".
Make text bigger by tapping "Larger Text".
Then drag the circle along the line to the right (towards the larger "A") to make the text size bigger.
For more text size options, tap the circle to toggle on "Larger Accessibility Sizes". Then tap "Back" to return to the "Display & Text Size" menu.
To make text darker and easier to see, tap the circle to toggle on "Bold Text."
To help see buttons better, tap the circle to toggle on "Button Shapes." This will underline words that do something when they are tapped.
To change the Text Size using the Control Center on an iPad in iPadOS 18:
Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center.
Tap the "+" or touch and hold anywhere below the Control Center icons.
Tap "+ Add a Control".
In the Control Center gallery, tap the "Text Size" icon to add it to the Control Center.
Tap anywhere on the screen, to finish editing the Control Center.
Use one finger to slide the Text Size slider up or down to make the text on the screen bigger or smaller.
Tap anywhere on the screen, or swipe up from the bottom of the screen with one finger, to exit the Control Center.
Text Size can now be changed when needed by swiping down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center and moving the slider up or down.

increase text size in educational apps. A larger Text Size makes it easier to follow step-by-step instructions while interacting in many e apps.
learn to read using a larger Text Size in an eBook. Students can use a larger Text Size to see each word and follow along more confidently.
use an accessible and familiar font for better letter recognition. Change the Text to a font similar to one used by the teacher, with letters that follow the same letter formation (i.e., choose a font that has the letter "a" written as "a").
