Reduce White Point is a setting on the iPad that allows students to reduce bright colours on the screen.
Reduce White Point can support students to:
increase focus and attention
improve reading stamina
build confidence with using the iPad
To turn on Reduce White Point on an iPad in iPadOS 18:
Tap each image below to learn more, and zoom in to get a closer look.
Go to "Settings".
Tap "Accessibility". Then tap "Display & Text Size."
Swipe up to find and tap the circle to toggle on Reduce White Point.
Drag the dot on the slider to change how strong or soft bright colours will look on the screen.
To add Reduce White Point to the Control Center on an iPad in iPadOS 18:
Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center.
Tap the "+" or touch and hold anywhere below the Control Center icons.
Tap "+ Add a Control".
Use the Search bar and Keyboard to type "Color Reduce White Point", then tap the "Reduce White Point" icon to add it to the Control Center.
Tap anywhere on the screen, to finish editing the Control Center.
Tap the "Reduce White Point" icon to make the colours on the screen look softer.
Tap anywhere on the screen, or swipe up from the bottom of the screen with one finger, to exit the Control Center.
To turn off Reduce White Point, swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center. Then tap the "Reduce White Point" icon to turn it off.

make the screen more comfortable to view. In a classroom with dim lights, Reduce White Point makes the screen softer by lowering the bright blue light, helping eyes feel more comfortable.
focus on the text. Reduce visual distractions and make it easier to use the iPad by reducing the White Point.
