Students can increase the Contrast of the iPad to change how the iPad looks.
Contrast can support students to:
increase focus and attention
improve reading stamina
build confidence with using the iPad
To Increase Contrast on an iPad in iPadOS 18:
Tap each image below to learn more, and zoom in to get a closer look.
Go to "Settings".
Tap "Accessibility".
Tap "Display & Text Size".
Tap the circle to toggle on "Increase Contrast". The colours of items and buttons will now look darker than the colours in the background.
To add Increase Contrast to the Control Center on an iPad in iPadOS 18:
Swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center.
Tap the "+" or touch and hold anywhere below the Control Center icons.
Tap "+ Add a Control".
Use the Search bar and Keyboard to type "Increase Contrast", then tap the "Increase Contrast" icon to add it to the Control Center.
Tap anywhere on the screen, to finish editing the Control Center.
Tap the "Increase Contrast" icon to make the colours of items and buttons on the iPad screen look darker than the colours in the background.
Tap anywhere on the screen, or swipe up from the bottom of the screen with one finger, to exit the Control Center.
To turn off Increase Contrast, swipe down from the top-right corner of the screen to open Control Center. Then tap the "Increase Contrast" icon to turn it off.
