Welcome to Brock's Library website- a place to learn about what's happening in the library as well as find great resources.
Please read the moat recent Fall K-8 Letter for information about the library program and FAQs.
Here is what we will be continuing this year:
creating a safe space for all students to feel comfortable, be supported, and have fun
fostering a love of reading and excitement about books and authors ***
learning how to incorporate technology in new, modified, and redesigned ways with a focus on digital citizenship
a new STEM shelf with bins of materials and speed build challenges
providing coding opportunities for as many grades as possible
continuing with the amazing Forest of Reading Program- we love it so much!
celebrating and loving our awesome Canadian authors and illustrators on I Read Canadian Day (and every day)
*** Brock's Library supports student CHOICE in reading for ALL STUDENTS from kindergarten to grade 8. What does this mean? When students come to the library, they are encouraged to read books that they want to read (that are age appropriate). This is the BEST way to foster a love of reading that will benefit them in all other aspects of their lives. Head over to our Read What You Like page to learn more!
The TDSB Virtual Library is a fantastic resource. You will find research tools, online books, databases, and more. If needed, please click on this password document for information on how to access these resources.
Some highlights:
READ WATCH LEARN: Access to ebooks, animated books, encyclopedias, videos, images, and more. Great for reading and research.
MAKE AND DO: Create and explore! Your teacher will need to create accounts for some of the resources.
PARENT AND FAMILY: Resources from TDSB, Ministry, and Toronto Public Library you can use at home.
Families may access School Community IT Support for assistance at home.
If your child is in grade 6 to 8 and has a 1:1 device, the Student Device Program page has several useful links and resources. The program has been paused and no new devices will be issued to grade 5s. Please note that the cost of lost devices and repairs not covered under warranty will need to be paid by families unless otherwise negotiated with the school.
Are you in grade 5 to 8? Did you forget your log in password? You can reset your password yourself!
