One week before the winter break, 12 TDSB schools were closed because of COVID-19, including David Lewis Public School, which reported 9 cases. David Lewis PS is an elementary school that is very close to Bethune, and many younger siblings of Bethune students currently attend David Lewis PS.

On October 9, Ontario hit a record-high of 939 confirmed cases, and has been consistently seeing nearly 1,000 new cases every day. As worrying as these numbers are, there is an increasing amount of people who have become more relaxed with pandemic safety protocols. People aren’t taking the virus as seriously as before.

Don Cherry, on Saturday November 9, 2019, stated that new Canadian immigrants were not wearing poppies ahead of Remembrance Day to pay tribute to our fallen soldiers.
