Why The Owl House Deserves a Full Season Three
Although it is wonderful news that The Owl House is coming out with Season Three, fans have been outraged at how Disney cut the show from a typical season of twenty episodes to just three. As a result, episodes that were formerly twenty minutes are now forty minutes. With only these three episodes concluding the show, viewers are concerned there won’t be enough time to wrap up the heartfelt plot and characters the show has created.

The Three Albums That got me Through High School
Twin Fantasy (Mirror To Mirror) was my favourite album during the lockdowns in 2021. Its bedroom-quality recording, boyish vocals, and melodramatic hooks made it a perfect outlet for my teenage angst. The instrumentals are off the cuff and raw. They sound like Car Seat Headrest took chart-topping rock riffs and played them through a blender. It’s messy, it’s chaotic, and it’s a perfect backdrop for its eclectic songwriting.
Are you tired and exhausted from this chaotic school year? Stressed? Bored? Do you have any plans for what to binge during this Winter Break? Well, Yumi’s Cell is the perfect drama for you. Originally created as a Webtoon, this K-Drama is about the life of a girl in her 30s, Yumi.
Knitting Mills, Cassette Decks, and Breakups: The Glow Pt. 2 by The Microphones
The Glow Pt. 2 was recorded in the quiet town of Olympia, Washington, home to the storied independent record label K records. At 14 years old, Phil Elverum ran into Bret Lunsford of Beat Happening fame in his record store in Anacortes, Washington, where he was invited to join Lunsford’s band D+. After a series of cassette-only releases and an awkward phone call, Beat Happening singer and owner of K records, Calvin Johnson, gave Phil Elverum the keys to Dub Narcotic recording studio, formerly an old knitting mill.

Simu wanted to be the first Asian hero because he had never seen one before. On Times 100 Talks, he says, “I can be someone I didn’t have as a kid.” He also says, “I really hope that with this movie, kids who are like me, who grew up similarly, can have that. That’s really the power of representation: seeing yourself on screen and feeling like you’re a part of this world, which for Asian children who have grown up in the West hasn’t always been the case.”

The first aspect of a good comedy is humour that can appeal to a specific audience. An example of this is Shaun of the Dead, a movie with an unusual combination of horror and comedy. The 2000s were saturated with zombie movies such as Dawn of the Dead. These movies, for the most part, followed a similar storyline: a group of people discover a zombie outbreak and attempt to wait out the apocalypse.

Episode eight is called ‘Babes in the Woods’, a reference to a traditional English tale that involves two brothers getting lost in the woods and dying there. Robin birds then cover their bodies with leaves. These elements and old school references give the audience a deep sense of nostalgia and provide a dark undertone. The show incorporates humour and relatable characters to make it engaging for the present-day generation.
Set in a world where cursed spirits roam free and supernatural powers are not a myth, Jujutsu Kaisen follows protagonist Yuuji Itadori as his life gets turned upside down. When Yuuji finds himself eating a severed finger of a demon entity and gaining its power, he does not expect to come out of the situation alive. He is surprised that his body can hold even a percent of the demon’s cursed powers. Jujutsu sorcerers from Jujutsu Tech, a school for sorcerers, take in Itadori to examine the range of his abilities.
The release of The Mandalorian Season Two has been a welcome escape from the fears and hardships of the COVID-19 pandemic. The quality of the series has been excellent, and viewers who enjoyed season one will undoubtedly love the second season as well. The structure of this season is a bit like a video game, with various side quests Din Djarin (the Mandalorian) must embark on to achieve his greater goal; bringing Grogu (colloquially known as Baby Yoda) back to the Jedi.
Time is used in Reality TV quite a lot. It is used to shorten the shows and to make the competition fair for everyone. But it also causes a lot of tension between the contestants. People are more scared of losing to the clock, than losing to the other participants. The following shows from Netflix demonstrate how contestants struggle to beat the clock.
School has officially started, and although everyone is trying their best to adapt to the new learning system, we all know that paying attention to class is going to be so much harder. Instead of providing you ways to stay focused, today I provide you with ways to distract yourself with five webcomic series to binge. The first three can be found on the official Webtoon platform, at https://www.webtoons.com/en/, while the final two can be picked up from bookstores or read online.
There’s no denying that the Star Wars prequel trilogy doesn’t live up to the standard that the original trilogy set. The clunky dialogue, abundance of bad CGI and characterization, along with many other factors resulted in millions of disappointed fans (who complain every day about it on social media). The Clone Wars fixes almost all the problems. It is an anthology series with single episode stories, but more often multi-episode arcs featuring different characters at different times.
The fourth and final season of Hajime Isayama’s Attack on Titan will be released on December 7th, 2020 and fans are beyond excited, but what makes AOT a series unlike any other?
Don’t you wish you could escape from the harsh reality of life for just a few moments? Or perhaps, a few episodes? Check out some of these feel-good animes and let the main cast venture into the world for you during this quarantine season.
COVID-19 is not the only pandemic to take over 2020. The Netflix documentary, Tiger King, has taken the internet by storm. I watched all seven episodes of the documentary in one night. It’s like a trainwreck: you just can’t look away.
It's hard to explain why “Animal Crossing New Horizons” is so addicting. There is no doubt that being forced to stay home sprouted a rare opportunity that motivated a large number of people to give this game a chance. But there’s more to “Animal Crossing” that specifically makes it a best-selling game right now.
It is a roller-coaster filled with self-discovery, hard-learned lessons, and screaming matches. Never Have I Ever has some competition in this category, for it is not the only modern teen-based show: Atypical, Sex Education, and The Fosters are great productions as well. However, Never Have I Ever has a distinct and charming quality that puts it high on the list of many people’s favourite teen comedy series. But, why?
Amid the commotion created by recent events, an opportunity has risen for individuals to occupy themselves and make the most out of the current situation to assist in flattening the curve. Speaking from a teenager’s perspective, what better way is there to spend leisure time than by getting under a comfortable blanket, grabbing a few snacks and watching reruns of your favourite show?
Although taking naps and spending the day on your phone sounds very relaxing, it is more worthwhile to spend our quarantine doing something with more purpose. For occasions like this, podcasts are a great way to pass time.
Since 2007, Ratatouille still remains one of Pixar’s most beloved films. From the clever directing to the notable characters, Ratatouille is truly a treasure. Upon tasting Remy’s ratatouille, Ego’s nostalgic feelings mirror those who have seen the movie during childhood, as they will forever remember this heartwarming film.
Set between the events of Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, this is the first live action series in the Star Wars franchise. As Yoda would say, definitely worth watching this series is.
The sitcom Friends was a phenomenon at its release and it remains one of the most-watched shows today. It has always been a classic, and even though we all want it to return, I am afraid it will inevitably be a disappointment.
Described by director Bong Joon Ho as “a comedy without clowns and a tragedy without villains,” Parasite is the dictionary definition of a keep-you-on-your-toes movie.
Marvel is back to take all of our money. I’m going to assume you know the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU), and save myself the trouble of explaining. With Avengers: Endgame being the highest grossing film in the world, how could I not? Now as an obsessive fan, I’m here to inform you what’s going to be happening in the near future.
By now, this tale has become a classic, widely-recognized name in both the literature and film industry. Little Women is a title that has never failed to deliver, no matter what form it is in.
Nickelodeon’s old sitcom Victorious was a huge hit while it aired, but all good things must come to an end, and such was the story of Victorious. I’m sure many of us remember snippets of the show, maybe even a few episodes, but I don’t think most people remember how irritating and boring the main character, Tori Vega was.
“You’re not a Nazi Jojo,” Elsa said in the trailer. “You’re a 10 year old kid who likes dressing up in a funny uniform and wants to be part of a club.”
“Being able to bring a character to life in such a way in numerous film projects is quite a difficult task, but Phoenix has lived up to the role, which is why he has been proclaimed “the best actor of his generation” by many critics.”
