Emily Hoffer grew up in northern Vermont and graduated from Bates College in Lewiston, ME where she captained the women’s rowing team, studied abroad in India, and majored in Political Science. She spent the next seven years working on college campuses: first at Portland State University in Portland, OR coordinating internship programs in partnership with nonprofits across the city and then in the Office of Career Services at the University of Massachusetts Amherst (where she also earned her Masters of Education in School Counseling). Through mentoring undergraduate students, Emily grew interested in the support and preparation necessary before stepping onto that college campus to help students build academic skills, explore interests, and find a learning environment that fits best - all in the name of achieving their postsecondary goals. She is most inspired when doing that work at JHHS.
