For all courses taken at Jackson Hole High School a transcript grade and credit will issued at the end of each semester.
All JHHS courses use the following standard grading scale:
90% - 100% = A
80% - 89% = B
70% - 79% = C
60% - 69% = D
below 60% = F
Grade Point Average (GPA) is determined based on a 4.0 scale. pluses and minuses are not weighted.
A=4.0
B=3.0
C=2.0
D=1.0
F=0.0
Classes graded by Pass/No Pass are not figured into the grade point average.
JHHS provides rank by decile, and does not provide individual class rankings.
The Wyoming Hathaway Scholarship weighted GPA will be based on a scale from 0 to 5.0. Beginning in the 2018-2018 school year, only AP and Dual/Concurrent college courses 1000-level and above will be weighted. College courses below the 1000-level will not be weighted.
Starting in the 2018-19 school year, all student transcripts will include BOTH a Wyoming Hathaway Scholarship weighted GPA and Traditional Non-Weighted GPA.
The Wyoming Hathaway Scholarship weighted GPA does not apply to any students who graduate before the 2018-19 school year.
Students taking Dual/Concurrent enrollment courses do not need to receive college credit from those courses in order to receive a weighted grade.
These changes will be retroactive, meaning transcripted grades for all qualifying courses will reflect the new 5.0 scale starting with the student’s freshman year.
A grade of “Incomplete” may be assigned if a student fails to meet the requirements of the class for any of the following reasons: a family emergency, health reasons, or other reasons acceptable to administration. Upon returning to JHHS, the student has ten school days to complete the necessary coursework or to make other arrangements to complete the course. Upon completion or non-completion of coursework, a grade will be assigned.
If a student fails a core course he or she must recover the credit so the course of study continues to comply with graduation standards. Both grades will appear on the transcript and be calculated in the cumulative GPA.
Each student may use a Pass/Fail option for up to 1.0 credit (or two seperate .5 credits) earned during their junior or senior year. This request must be submitted by the close of grades each semester. While colleges and universities have different procedures for reviewing Pass grades on transcripts, it is important to know that many request courses (especially core courses) be taken for a letter grade.
The guidelines for the P/F option are:
The passing grade (P) for all courses is a 60%. Electing to use the Pass option for grades 60 or higher replaces the final semester grade with a P on the transcript. A P does not factor into the student’s GPA.
Any grade lower than 60% is recorded as an F.
Students using the P/F option for classes in which they are concurrently earning CWC credit must also drop the CWC credit. Students should work with their school counselor to complete this step.
Students must declare their intent by submitting a P/F form after consulting with their school counselor.
