In February Indigenous Education students met with Miss Lydia to watch the 7 Sacred Laws, a YouTube series about the 7 Grandfather Teachings. Additionally, students completed ode' (heart) (🗣️ listen) worksheets and decorated their school snow snake.
In March, weather permitting, students will go outside to throw their snow snakes. Snow Snake is a game Tribal communities in the Northeastern region of North America would play to connect, enjoy winter, and maintain their spear-throwing skills. We composed a playlist on our YouTube of Snow Snake videos you can view for more information. Time outside will also allow students to start on a phenology calendar, observing their surroundings and use Anishinaabemowin.
Parents/guardians, IE students will be outside in March. Please ensure they are dressed appropriately for the weather conditions. If you wish for your student not to participate please contact us at (231) 933-5897 / baldwinsu@tcaps.net
