ANNOUNCEMENTS
Updates from the Indigenous Education Coordinator:
Indigenous Education Visits
I have been meeting the Indigenous Education TAs, students, faculty, and staff. It has been a pleasure and exciting to see how they are helping our students and providing visual representation at each school. I look forward to visiting the remaining schools within the next two weeks.
Activity and Teaching
Last week I had the opportunity to meet students at West Middle School and share a cultural activity and teaching. We did a powwow workout to get our heart rates up, talked about the heart berry / ode'imin (strawberry), and enjoyed strawberry shortcake together. Throughout April, I will be visiting other schools to talk about ode'imin.

DID YOU KNOW?
Mino-Aki-Mi is the time of the good earth.
Mnookmi season is the New Year for Anishinaabeg. We celebrated this time as we survived a usually harsh season, biboon (winter).
Anishinaabeg would wait for the nimkii binesiiyag (thunderbirds) to return, at which time we would feast on our traditional items to get them ready for the work in the upcoming year.
Mina Nkweshkandaa Mnookmig! Let's greet the spring!
