Attended MMIW event at Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa (GTB) and had the opportunity to meet community members and GTB employees.
Attended a special Board Meeting on May 22 regarding the graduation dress code. All voted in favor of revising policy 5460. The revision allows graduates to bead their graduation caps!
Met with the Grand Traverse Band of Ottawa and Chippewa on May 1 and May 23 to provide information not only about Title VI but other grant-funded programs at TCAPS and how they provide support to our students.
In addition, met with NMC and Great Discovery Pier to discuss opportunities for students.
All meetings provided valuable information and opportunity.
Students at West Middle School learned about the history of ledger art and created their own "ledger art" on the lined paper used to practice cursive writing in 90's elementary schools.
Students at Traverse City High School tested their Indigenous / Anishinaabek knowledge in a Kahoot game with prizes sponsored by Northwest Michigan College.
We will connect at West Senior High to smudge in June.
