Volunteering in your kiddo's classroom is a great way to be involved! Here are a couple of pointers for your time volunteering:
Check with your teacher to confirm timing, dates, and materials a couple days ahead of time, especially if you are baking/decorating with the class.
Tell your kiddo how you're helping and what to expect- They will be so proud!
If you are coming in for a baking or decorating opportunity, let your kiddo know the day before and let them know you will come be with the class, leave so they can finish the school day, and then remind them who will be picking them up that day.
Talk about it afterward at home- Share what Avodah feels like, and talk about ways your family can continue to sacred service (see the list of Avodah ideas below).
Check out the Social Action Menu for monthly ideas about ways to practice avodah at home
August/September
Attend RoshHashanah Services with your kiddo on September 23. Talk with your child about what Gemilut Chasadim means and how they can do acts of loving kindness in the year ahead. More on HHD programming can be found at tbhla.org.
Head to your local library or bookstore. Seek out a book that features the theme of kindness and read it as a family.
When someone does something kind in your home, incorporate a little Hebrew into acknowledging their good deed. Use the words Gemilut Chasadim meaning an act of loving kindness.
October
Join us for Sukktoberfest on Friday, October 10. While enjoying the TBH community in the great outdoors, take a moment to soak up the beauty of nature and talk with your kiddos about how it is all of our jobs to practice Tikkun Olam.
Invite a friend or family member over for Sukkot or Shabbat this month. Talk with your little one about ways to be welcoming and embrace Gemilut Chasadim.
When reading at home to your kids you are likely to encounter characters that are very different from each other and maybe even different from your own child. Take a minute to talk about B’tzelem Elohim. Every person is created in the image of God meaning that everyone is unique, special and important.
PLEASE HELP OUR SECURITY AND STAFF WITH SAFETY IN THE PARKING LOT
IMPORTANT
Never leave an infant, child or pet in your car unattended.
Please do not leave your car running in the parking lot.
Watch carefully as you back up.
Office Communications
WhatsApp and other Class Chat Platforms- Please do not use class chat groups to communicate illness notifications. Reach out to ece@tbhla.org and our team will communicate illness-related notifications.
Communications to ece@tbhla.org come to the office team, and follow-up may be required. Please use the ECE email (not just karla@tbhla.org, or just the teachers) so that the whole office team can assist with the information. Emails sent after hours or on weekends will promptly be responded to during open hours 9am-5pm on weekdays. If you have sent illness or Covid-19 exposure information, please keep your kiddo(s) home, wait for a reply, and we will accommodate a late drop-off if needed.
Email ece@tbhla.org and cc your classroom teachers for the following:
Schedule changes
Illness
Absence
Medication
