Blizzard Report
Introduction
A blizzard is a devastating event and is considered a natural disaster, which is when a disaster happens on its own and is not affected by humans. The aftermath can be very devastating with destroyed buildings and even death. A blizzard is like a big snowstorm except it can last really long like 3 hours minimum and it is like a snowstorm but worse. The Blizzard we chose to do was the Iran Blizzard which took place in 1972
RQ1
A blizzard is formed when a cold air mass meets a warm, moist air mass. The cold air mass forces the warm air mass to rise, and as the warm air rises, it cools and condenses, forming snow. The strong winds can then pick up the snow and blow it around, creating a blizzard.
RQ2
The provinces of Azerbaijan, Kermanshah, and Fars were the most heavily affected areas. In these areas, the snow was so deep that it buried entire villages and cut off roads and communication lines. It caused an estimated $660 Million dollars worth of damage. The blizzard also had a devastating impact on the economy of Iran. The agricultural sector was particularly affected, as many crops were destroyed by the snow. The tourism industry also suffered, as foreign tourists were scared away by the storm.
RQ3
RQ4
The Iran Blizzard was known as one of the if not the worst blizzards in history, people reacted by staying in their homes. This isn’t a bad idea but it makes your home a freezing trap.
RQ5
RQ6
Climate change affects blizzards by the rising temperatures, the wind speeds, soon the wind speeds will reach a high wind speed strong enough to destroy an entire country. We can reduce this by reducing the flow of heat-trapping greenhouse. gases
