The survival integrated learning programme saw students develop skills to help them survive in the event of getting lost in the bush. Students investigated different survival situations and discussed the reasons for the people surviving. The course taught knife skills, knot tying, fire lighting skills, fly pitching as well as key factors to consider in survival situations. We were able to get out of the classroom and practice these skills such as lighting fire and cooking pancakes. Students were keen to learn and loved the practical aspects of the programme. The survival class gave students a taste of what outdoor education might be like in the years to come.
