Being a DIGITAL CITIZEN means to Respect and Protect
Respect Yourself, Respect Others
Protect Yourself, Protect Others
The school’s computer network, ICT access facilities, computers and other school ICT equipment/devices bring great benefits to the teaching and learning programmes at Tauhei Combined School, and to the effective operation of the school.
Our school has ICT safety practices in place, which include ICT safety user agreements for all school staff and students.
The overall goal of the school in this matter is to encourage good citizenship and maintain an ICT safety culture which is in keeping with the values of the school, and legislative and professional obligations.
We utilise Google for Education (Gsuite) for learning. Google for Education gives teachers the freedom to spend more time personalising the learning experience, and less time managing it. Students can learn 21st-century problem-solving and the skills they’ll use in their future careers, with accessibility features that help every student do their best work.
Students use Chromebooks in class. We have school Chromebooks, so no BYOD is needed. Chromebooks aren’t like other laptops. They run Chrome OS, an operating system made by Google. They are powerful, so they can handle what’s important to you and designed in a way that makes them easy to use. Watch this video to learn even more about the new way to laptop.
We purchase Reading Eggs for all our students. They all have their own personal log in, and can use Reading Eggs at school and at home. One unique aspect is that it is teacher driven, so student progress, reading levels and work within Reading Eggs can be set, analysed and reported on by teachers. Reading Eggs makes learning to read interesting and engaging for kids, with great online reading games and activities. Children love the games, songs, golden eggs and other rewards which, along with feeling proud of their reading, really motivate children to keep exploring and learning.
