History

The Texas A&M Math Circle was founded in 2011 by Dr. Phil Yasskin, Dr. Frank Sottile, and Dr. Alex Sprinston. From 2011 to 2014 the Math Circle only supported students in 5th-8th grade. In 2015, due to popular demand, the Math Circle expanded to support High School Students. At this point the Math Circle split into 3 groups based on the students' mathematical backgrounds. In 2020, Guoliang Yu joined Math Circle in order to run our Problem Solving sessions, which prepare students for national math competitions.  In previous years we met In Blocker from 2.00 to 5.00 PM on Saturdays. Former organizers of the Math Circle include Dr. Alex Sprinston (Dept. of Electrical and Computer Engineering), Dr.  Junehyuk Jung (now at Brown University), Dr. Frank Sottile, and Dr. Peyam Tabirizan (now at Brown University).
