Physical Education classes meet every day for one semester. Appropriate clothing is required for participation. The course includes instruction covering the six state standards including knowledge content and physical activity. Activities may include: tennis, volleyball, badminton, aerobic conditioning, fitness testing, swimming, basketball, group games and other activities. Emphasis is placed on active participation, effort, knowledge and responsible personal and social behavior in a physical activity setting.

Health classes meet every day for one semester. The course includes instruction in the following areas: health skills, mental and emotional health, family and social health, sexuality, HIV/AIDS, contraception, nutrition, and alcohol, tobacco, and drug prevention. The National Standards for Health are used to help students develop a knowledge base from which to make healthy lifestyle choices in everyday living.

Prerequisite: Physical Education
This physical education class will introduce students to sports and activities that they can enjoy for their entire life. This class will introduce new activities as well as build upon previous activities, strategies, and concepts that were introduced in PE I class. Activities in this class may include but are not limited to: archery, badminton, golf, tennis, table tennis, volleyball, pickleball, lawn games, and softball. This class is for the student who likes sports and competition.

Three days a week this course will consist of weight training, and the other two days will be devoted to other fitness related activities. In this class, students will learn advanced weight training skills, principles, and concepts. By the end of this course, students will be able to create their own strength training program and be able to track and monitor their progress. This course will also give students the ability to participate in other physical activities that can be pursued throughout one’s lifetime (such as yoga, swimming, walking/jogging, meditation, plyometrics, circuit training, along with other activities). This course promotes lifelong fitness as well as allowing students to reach their own personal fitness goals.

Prerequisite: Weight Training and Lifetime Fitness or Teacher permission
This physical education class is for experienced weight lifters. In this class, students will be expected to have a baseline understanding of basic lifting techniques and skills. Each student will have an individualized 8 - 12 week workout program that they will work with the teacher to create and will track their progression on their workout program. This class will cover advanced lifting techniques, basic biomechanics, muscle anatomy, and exercise science. This level II class is for highly motivated students interested in weight training and fitness.

Prerequisite: Earned .5 credits of Physical Education
The objective of this course is to get students to become a certified official with the OHSAA (Ohio High School Athletic Association). Upon completion of this course, students will have the opportunity to seek employment of officiating various sports within the district, community rec center, or elsewhere within northwest Ohio. This course focuses on the professional philosophy, and professional requirements for officiating sports for athletic contests. Possible sports covered may include football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, baseball, track and field, and softball. Upon completion of the course students will be afforded the option to take certification exams for any of the sport components and become a certified official with the Ohio High School Athletic Association at the middle/junior high school level.

Yoga and meditation will be used to teach students ways to reduce stress and anxiety as well as promote mental health. This course will cover multiple styles of yoga and meditation techniques. Students will learn basic postures, breathing techniques, and relaxation methods of yoga and meditation. Various other health techniques and coping mechanisms will be discussed and practiced in this course. Students will begin to experience the benefits of stretching, moving, and breathing freely as they relieve built up stress and anxiety
