Weebly is a great platform to build a free professional grade website with the ease of drag and drop elements. Weebly's "Pro" version offers up a few more bells and whistles, but there are also a few workarounds as well. When you sign up with Weebly, be sure to use an email account that is NOT your school account. This way you can ensure access once you graduate. Below you will find various screenshots and linked images to help get you started.
Pexels and Pixabay are sites that offer up professional photos that can be used freely without the worry of copyright infringements. Click the images below to visit the sites and simply right click to save the image to your folder. Once you have it saved, it can be uploaded to Weebly.
In order to have a successful website that drives business and customer traffic to your site, be sure to include the following:
Your Logo/Company Name
An attractive banner that relates to the image you are trying to create for your company
Your Home page is the first thing visitors will see, so be sure it includes information that will keep them there or spark their interest to browse your site even further.
Include your product and what sets it apart from the competition--why is it innovative?
Include your "Explainer Video" if you created one
Most importantly--include a CALL TO ACTION
You may also want to include a short form whereby you can collect customer information such as their email address
Other pages may include: About Us, Contact, Product Information, etc.
Apply "meta keywords" and write a site description under Weebly's SEO section to help your site become easier to find through a Google search.
Click the image above to visit Weebly's landing page to create your account. Once you've created your account you will arrive at a page where you can choose your theme. For the theme, all images can be changed, so think about which "lay-out" you like the best. Stay away from the Blog pages as those will be hard to add content to.
After choosing your theme and clicking the Blue "Start Editing Button" a popup will be displayed where you will need to enter in your URL. This will be the web address that others will use to visit your site, so make it professional! You will fill in the box that says "Choose a Subdomain of Weebly." This is the free version. During your pitch you may factor in the cost of paying for the pro version and the cost of your own domain name where you can drop "Weebly" off of the end of your web address. You have now arrived at your "builder" page where you can begin to customize your site, delete pages, add pages, and drag and drop content as needed. All of your content elements are on the left hand side and can simply be dragged and dropped into the content area. Pay attention to the blue line when your doing this as this shows exactly where you are placing it. You can place items side by side, below, or above each other.
Along the top of the "builder" page, you will see the rest of your tools. Click "Pages" to edit, delete, or add pages. Click "Theme" to change your theme or font styles. Click "Settings" to add your meta keywords and a site description under SEO. Click "Help" to visit their support center and find tips and tutorials on building your site.
