Creating Video Based Lessons

Create Video Based Lessons for Either Flipping the Class or for the Visual Learner

There are multiple tools to use for creating video based lessons. One popular tool that works hand-in-hand with Google Classroom is EdPuzzle.

VideoNot.es

VideoNot.es is a great extension tool to assist flipped learning for the classroom. Students can be provided an instructional video by the teacher, and with VideoNot.es they can upload the video via the URL and take notes at any area in the video! The notes they take automatically synchronize with the video and save automatically directly to their Google Drive by creating a folder there. Students can then click on the yellow bars that mark where they took their notes in the video to be able to quickly jump to that point. Check out the Google Slides tutorial below along with the link I shared to a sample video with notes. Like any other form of Google, students can share their notes with others to view to edit allowing for direct collaboration to take place.

Another idea, is for the teacher to use VideoNot.es to embed questions for students to answer related to the video. The teacher could then share out the VideoNote.s with the questions for which they could answer in a Google Form. Could you simply put the video directly in the form? Yes, but at least this way students may be more inclined to actually watch the video since the questions are embedded there.
