Prom 2018

By Savannah Rosenfield

Prom for 2018 was a night to remember. With the help of the Junior Prom Committee and Mrs. Floyd, as well as other members of the staff, this year's prom went off without a hitch. With the theme being The Great Gatsby, the room was decorated at its best with a design of black and gold being the main staples of color in the room. Student’s were able to walk down the red carpet and have their picture taken by many parents and a hired photographer. Girls were dressed in their finest dresses and boys in tuxedos and suits. People who went enjoyed their time together, and when the Senioralities were announced, people laughed and felt things were well suited. Moving on to the After Prom, the tables of the Sports Center were cleared away, and the room was redone in the fashion of a Casino complete with a blackjack table, prizes raffled off, a movie, and a show by a hypnotist. All in all, this year's prom was an enjoyable event and a very memorable time for all the Seniors whom it was their last. All of us from the Swanton Paw Print look forward to next year and hope that it will be just as much of an experience as this year.

By Katie LaGrange

Think there’s nothing to do during summer? Well think again! There’s loads of new and exciting things to do this summer. From things at the Toledo Zoo to things right here in Swanton, there’ll never be a dull moment in your summer.

Toledo Zoo-

The Toledo Zoo is always a local favorite. It’s full of a variety of animals and fun activities for the whole family to do. Whether you’re there for an event, or just a fun day with friends and family, the Toledo Zoo is always a great place to be.

In June at the Toledo Zoo, there are 5 big events happening: June 2 is Lucas the Elephant’s birthday,June 12th and 26th there is a Garden Tour, on June 15th is a ZOOtoDO and June 24th is a Summer Concert.

In July at the Zoo there are also 5 events. July 10th and 24th there are Garden Tours, July 15th is Sundae Funday, July 23rd is ADA Day, and July 27th is Rock N’ Roar.

Cedar Point-

When most people think of fun in Northwest Ohio, they think of Cedar Point. Cedar Point is one of America’s biggest amusement park. There are rides, games, food, performances and loads of fun no matter how old or young you are.

There’s one major event at Cedar Point this summer. It’s called Cedar Point Nights: Light Effect. This event happens nightly and goes from July 5th to August 19th. When the sun sets, the party begins. Experience live music, bonfires, tons of food, and beach games along with a firework show at the end of the night.

Water Parks-

The best way to beat the summer heat is swimming of course. It’s also a fun way to exercise without even realizing it. Water parks are the best and most fun way to cool off while having loads of fun.

Great Wolf Lodge Indoor Water Park is one of the most well-known water parks. It’s completely family friendly and loads of fun. There’s waterslides, an arcade, a magic quest, storytelling and so much more.

Kalahari is America’s biggest and best indoor water park. There are loads of crazy and exciting slides, you’ll never get bored. And since it’s always 84 and sunny, who would want to ever leave?

If you love Cedar Point, you’ll love Soak City. Why? Because they’re right next to each other! Once you’re all done riding the awesome roller coasters at Cedar Point, go down to the 18 acre outdoor water park and cool down. You definitely won’t regret plummeting down a slide or hitting the waves at the wave pool.

Swanton-

If you don’t want to spend a lot of money or drive hours away, there’s always things to do right here in Swanton.

Honey Bear is a local ice cream shop off of Airport Highway. They sell all types of ice cream and sundaes, slushies and even French fries! Also keep a lookout for who’s working, you might get see one of your friends on the job.

Friday Night Football is a town favorite. Everyone loves coming and watching the Varsity team play against rivaling school. Football season this year will start about mid to late August. So get ready to cheer on our favorite football team.

The last event I’ll talk about is The Annual Corn Fest. It is an absolute town favorite. This year’s festival will be on August 18th. With live music, games, lots of delicious food and fun with friends and family, there’s no better place to be.

With all of the fun places to go and cool things to do, you definitely won’t be bored this summer.
