By Katie LaGrange

What are you afraid of? What’s your deepest, darkest fear? Better not say it too loud or Pennywise the Clown might use it against you. In the movie “IT”, directed by Andrés Muschietti, Pennywise the Clown haunts the children of Derry, Maine, by using their biggest fears against them. The terrifying clown comes back every 27 years. “IT” is a remake of the original 1990 version, both based off the New York Times Best Selling Stephen King novel. The main characters are a group of 7 kids who call themselves The Losers Club which includes, Bill, Richie, Mike, Ben, Eddie, Stan and the lone girl of the group, Bev. The cast includes Bill Skarsgård as Pennywise, Sophia Lillis as Bev, Finn Wolfhard as Richie, Jaeden Lieberher as Bill, Jack Dylan Grazer as Eddie, Wyatt Oleff as Stan, Chosen Jacobs as Mike, and Jeremy Ray Taylor as Ben.

The film begins with Bill making a paper sailboat for his younger brother, Georgie. Georgie, excited to play with his new gift goes outside, so excited to play that he doesn’t mind playing in the brewing storm. Georgie lets his sailboat float in the puddles, but it travels fast through the moving rainwater down a street sewer, where suddenly Pennywise comes out, lures Georgie to him, and kills him. Georgie is reported missing, and his older brother Bill and The Losers Club explore and investigate what happened to his brother. While they are trying to solve the mystery, Pennywise uses their fears against them to try and kill them. The kids face their fears and defeat the evil clown and take an oath that if he comes back when they’re adults, they’ll all come back to stop him. So if you’re looking for a scary movie to watch with some friends, “IT” is the movie to see.
