The Pilot's Operating Handbook provides all the information you need about your aircraft limits, equipment, systems, etc.. You can get this printed off and bound in the Copy Shop of the SUU library for $10.
Logbook
Your logbook will keep record of all your flight training and endorsements (legally required to have as a student pilot).
FAR/AIM
The Federal Aviation Regulations and Aeronautical Information Manual contain the regulations regarding attaining your license and the rules of the sky. **You'll need a new one every year!
Knee Board
A knee board is used to take notes during your flight lessons. There are a lot of different types and from Instrument lab forward your knee board will hold your iPad.

It is strongly advised that you purchase a headset with active noise cancelling. There are a wide variety of headsets of different qualities and prices. For solo lab, it may be best to buy a budget headset and then invest in a better quality one once you are further in the program.

This equipment will not be need until next semester in your Private Cert Lab; however, you will need to use this equipment for your Private Pilot Ground School, as well. If you are taking ground school this semester you should purchase the E6B and plotter whenever you get the chance. The sectional charts and chart supplement expire frequently, so it is recommended that you do not purchase them until shortly before you will actually be using them.

Used to do numerous calculations for flight planning. You will learn how to use it in ground school or your flight lab.
