Cricket Academy

Jacques Jooste, a two-time winner of the SVPS Sportsman of the Year award, will be running the Firebirds cricket academy. Jacques offers a unique coaching style that couples both hard work with enjoyment to get the best results out of his players. Jacques’ accommodating and humble approach offers a safe and positive learning environment in which players can express themselves entirely. Having played the game at the highest levels for several years, Jacques has a few tricks up his sleeve. Jacques’ experience as a player offers a different edge to the way he coaches and provides a sense of relatability that will benefit our young cricketers tremendously. 

Being a proud Sun Valley Old boy, Jacques can offer a healthy mix of mentorship, coaching and self-development that will ultimately help our cricketers become the best versions of themselves. Jacques played three years of Sun Valley 1st XI cricket and did the same at Rondebosch Boys’ High School. All these experiences have provided him with an abundance of cricketing knowledge that he is eager to share with our cricketers. Jacques believes that consistency and a clear plan are the perfect combination to see results. Come and balance decline, enjoyment and focus with our coaches and achieve your true potential.
