Sales reps must hold an active Home Improvement Salesperson (HIS) registration issued by the Contractors State License Board (CSLB) before soliciting, negotiating, or signing residential home improvement contracts.
Age & Qualifications: Must be at least 18 years old.
Registration Scope: Tied directly to the individual salesperson, allowing reps to work for multiple licensed contractors.
Process:
Salesperson Application & Fingerprinting: Rep submits an online HIS Application via CSLB and completes a mandatory Live Scan fingerprint background check.
Contractor Linkage: Contractor must link the rep to their contractor license before sales activity begins.
Offboarding: Contractor submits a disassociation notification within 90 days of departure. Notify Seamless Home immediately if a Sales User will no longer be selling through Seamless Home.
Enter your HIS number to your SubcontractorHub profile and request Seamless Access. This will prompt the sales user to sign a document approving the association to Seamless Home's HIC.
Requirement:
Under Senate Bill 1036 (Residential Solar Retailer Act), all individual solar sales representatives and sales retailers operating in Texas must hold a valid registration with the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TDLR).
Mandatory Sponsorship/Association: Individual solar sales representatives must register with TDLR and must be associated with a registered solar retailer (and explicitly list the licensed electrical contractor's license number on all contracts).
Contract Disclosures: Contracts must disclose the contractor's registration number, provide a mandatory 5-day right-to-cancel, and include the TDLR educational brochure.
Local Municipalities: Non-solar door-to-door reps may still require local city-level solicitor/peddler permits depending on the jurisdiction.
Process:
Sales Representative TDLR Application: Individual reps submit their salesperson application and complete required state background checks through TDLR.
Contractor & Rep Linkage: Reps are formally associated with the company’s TDLR contractor account in the state database before making pitches or signing agreements.

Multiple Contractor Limit: Reps may represent a maximum of two licensed contractors at the same time.
Exam Required: Reps must pass an open-book state salesperson exam on home improvement laws.
Process:
Take the PSI Exam: Candidate registers for and passes the MHIC Salesperson Examination via PSI Exams (70%+ score).

Submit MHIC Application: Candidate submits passing exam scores, sponsored application, and state fees to the MHIC. Reps cannot sell until the license is active.

Connecticut requires home improvement salespeople to obtain an individual Home Improvement Salesperson (HIS) Registration from the Department of Consumer Protection (DCP).
HIC Contractor Association: An individual HIS registration must be affiliated with a registered Home Improvement Contractor (HIC) company. An HIS cannot sell independently without an active sponsoring HIC.
Contract Display: The affiliated contractor’s CT HIC registration number must appear on all marketing materials, contracts, and proposals alongside the sales representative’s information.
Process:
Submit HIS Application: The sales rep submits the Home Improvement Salesperson Registration Application to the DCP (online via eLicense portal) and pays the required fees ($100 total state/guaranty fund fee).
Link Sponsoring Contractor: The rep lists the sponsoring contractor’s official name and HIC registration number on the DCP application form.
