Freshie Walk

Freshie Walk 

On August 15, 2024, I participated in the Freshie Walk, a welcoming event for new students at Silliman University. The Freshie Walk provided me with an opportunity to familiarize myself with the campus, meet fellow students, and get a taste of the university’s vibrant culture. It was a fun and engaging experience that marked the beginning of my academic journey. Initially, I expected the event to be a simple introduction to the university, but it turned out to be much more than that. It gave me the chance to connect with peers from different programs and develop a sense of belonging to the larger Silliman community.

One of the most fulfilling aspects of the Freshie Walk was the shared excitement among new students. The collective energy made me feel excited for the semester ahead. Although it wasn’t academically focused, the event fostered camaraderie and created an atmosphere of inclusion and welcome. However, as an early event, it also made me aware of how quickly time moves, and I had to adjust to balancing academics with extracurricular activities.

The Freshie Walk taught me the importance of community and the value of embracing new experiences. It was the first step in making meaningful connections and understanding the spirit of Silliman University. Moving forward, I aim to continue seeking opportunities to engage with others and take part in events that help build a strong university culture.
