During this time of year, we spend some time in Music class looking at First Nations and Metis Music.
Below are some videos on Metis Music. Travel through history as you learn about Metis music and culture. You will be able to hear about the Metis sash and what it means to the Metis people, as well as how music plays such an important part in the history and lives of Metis peopl.
Metis music, in particular Metis jigging music is important in Metis culture. Listen to the story "Fiddle Dancer", and try your hand at some jigging. Send Mrs. Rutz a picture or video of you dancing arutz@srsd119.ca

This is the website we used in class while learning the recorder: musicplayonline.com/recorder/ There are lots of pieces here that you can review, and then pick some new ones to learn. Follow the tabs at the top of the page to pick different options for the same piece. If you forget some fingerings, on the right hand side click Recorder Warm up and they are there for you to review. You can even compose your own song!
Record yourself playing a piece and send it to arutz@srsd119.ca I would love to hear you play again!

This weeks challenge is to keep on singing. There are some songs in here that we have done in class and you may recognize. There are some really oldies but goodies too. Your parents might even remember The Elephant Show-it was one of my favourites! Enjoy!
