candy still life

This piece is particularly exciting because it features my favorite candy/role model, sour patch kids. I love sour patch kids because not only are they delicious, they're hilarious. First they're sour then they're sweet is a slogan that I've long admired and even adopted it as my personal motto.

To bring this piece to life I employed sharpies, thin and thick point, colored pencil, and pen. The white milk pen really helped to accentuate the granulated sugar. The shading aids in giving the illusion of a three dimensional piece.

If I were to redo this piece I would definitely make sure that all of my sour patch kids are the same size and that my lines are crisper and cleaner.
