Space

Artist statement for all:

• Size for hand: 12 by 9, inches,
• Size for zentangle:2in 10in
• Size for Leaves 15 by 9 inches.

The reason that we made these were to show negative space, this is the area around what you are drawing, the best example for this was the leaves because we got many leaves and made a collage with a lot of negative space around them and then had to turn the negative space and not the other area into something. To start this we took clear pieces of plastic and made an outline of the shapes, after we made them onto a larger piece of paper and started to turn the negative space into something, I used watercolors and made it blue and green with purple splatters on it. Then I colored the non negative space black to further sow that.

I think that next time we do negative space I would rather try to focus on trying to really show the negative space as something different that the non negative space.
