Zentangle.

Whale scale.

2H pencil, black pen, paper.

For this piece of art, I was trying to create a scale of patterns that went from light to dark. The idea of this came from the Zentangle assignment.

The materials I used were a 2H pencil and a black Sharpie gel pen.

I used a 2H pencil to quickly sketch out the whale outline before I began to make sure I had the shape and 10 sections how I wanted it. I also used a ruler to ensure that my lines were straight and that I could fit ten units. Then, I used a black Sharpie to draw the patterns so that they would be dark, clean, and prominent. I did end up researching and using the links provided on GC to find new patterns and designs that sparked my imagination. The reason I chose to do multiple different patterns was because I thought it looked unique and cool when there were many different patterns going on. With the same pattern, I think it could look repetitive and dull. But many patterns lead it to be exciting and cool to look at.
