STory to the Center of the Earth

Relevent Info, Research, & Process

As a class we did a lot of work leading up to the project in order to understand the topics so we could display all those things in our comic and story. I enjoyed this process because we were able to learn all of this new information and put it into a project in a fun and creative way. We began this process by learning about the geology of the ocean including the different basins, the layers of Earth including the continental crust (lithosphere,asthenosphere), oceanic crust, upper mantle, lower mantle, outer core, and inner core. We researched and learned all about the different layers in order to incorperate them within the story with all their features. Another important topic we dove into was continental drift, Pangea, and Alfred Wegener. We were able to use some of those aspects in ourn story and comic as well. In our story it all starts with a massive earthquake that caused a major crack in the Earth and we learned more about this when talking about all the different types of plate tectonics and plate boundaries.

This was an excellent project because we got to learn a lot about different aspects of the Earth, used team work in order to complete the project, were able to express our creative side to create a storyabout anything involving a trip to the center of the Earth, and now we are able to see what everyone else did abd their creativity.
