Fall 2022- Freshman 1
My first semester here at Dominican, I have learned so much and gained various ideas on how I would like to run my classroom. The amount of insight I gained through observing the strategies utilized by my teacher and my observation at Hamilton School shows there is a lot for me to learn. Ms. Barden, my first observation classroom teacher has shown me wisdom through the way she runs and functions her class as a whole. Whether it be how she taught the lesson, or how she transitioned from one matter to another, the control and professionalism she shows are phenomenal and I hoped to become like that someday. The way she teaches shows how much passion, skills, and history she has with teaching, and it's very inspiring. Whenever a student has trouble, she doesn't hesitate to give them a little push and help them arrive at the solution on their own. With much more preparation and observations to come, I can't wait to explore the more future classrooms, I'm going to be in!
Spring 2023- Freshman 2
As Freshman 2 at Dominican, I have gained a lot of new knowledge, whether it be on exploring and understanding school funding, topics related to equity, and lots of lesson plans in my EDU 1001 course. In addition, I've gained a large amount of insight through my observation at Hamilton Meadow Park School in Ms. Barden's classroom. While last semester, the teacher had led the lesson, this semester the teacher had student teachers. This was helpful for me to understand the different strategies and practices that each of them has. Throughout my observation, I was able to help students with understanding vowel diagraphs, rounding numbers, writing paragraphs for their speech based on their interests, and many more! Although my plans have taught higher grade levels, observing Ms. Barden's class was a new experience that made me more open about my future career.
