Teaching science ensures that students can learn core concepts and scientific ideas in a way that encourages them to think, question, explore & experiment.
Through piquing students' interests and curiosity, they can better adopt important skills such as critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. All of these skills are beneficial inside and outside the classroom.
By identifying a tailored technique that ensures that my students are having fun, are comfortable, and learning well, I am making learning enjoyable for students and myself as well!
The slides at left share a detailed account of my understanding of effective science pedagogy for all students, effective science pedagogy in relation to the Science Standard Practice 8, and how I will teach and reach all my students, whether it be individuals with special needs or English language learners.
The work at right is an inquiry starter lesson plan I created for the grade level I was placed for the Fall 2024 semester. I chose to explore static electricity from the physical science curriculum and designed an experiment that would be engaging and impactful for students. I tried the experiment at home and had a lot of fun with it! This lesson plan aligns with NGSS standards.
