Pendulums made the narrow path a much more threatening challenge. The sweepers are somewhat difficult, but they're thin and can be easily jumped over if one is caught in their path. The pendulums require delicate timing that can't be avoided. To balance the path, I made frequent use of fences as larger platforms for resting. I also spaced out dangerous obstacles so the player had time to wind down and prepare for the next. Polishing an environment can change the atmosphere and help the challenge feel justified in its existence in the game world.
