What is the IB DP?

The Vienna International School is an authorised International Baccalaureate school. The IB is a programme of international education designed to help students ages 3 to 18 to develop the knowledge, understanding, attitudes and skills necessary to participate actively and responsibly in a changing world.

VIS played a central role in developing the Primary Years Programme (PYP), which was introduced in 1997.

In August 2008, the Middle Years Programme (MYP) was introduced at Vienna International School, beginning with Grade 6. These students lead the programme through the first cycle, which culminated with their IB MYP graduation in 2013 from Grade 10.

The Diploma Programme (DP) for grades 11 and 12 is a rigorous pre-university courses of studies, leading to external examinations. VIS began offering the IB DP in 1978.
