As an employee in a DoDEA school on a military installation, you will need two important items: a Common Access Card (CAC) and a Letter of Employment.
The CAC is your ID card that allows you to access the military base. You will also have to use your CAC to login to your computer at work and to shop in the commissary and Exchange. If you are transferring to the Pac East district from another region in DoDEA (i.e. Europe or Americas), you may have to obtain a new CAC once you arrive here.
Please note that there are several HR actions that must occur before you are able to secure your ID card and Letter of Employment. You will need to exercise patience and accept the kindness of your colleagues as they help you with basic tasks (commissary visits, computer access, trips to the Pass/ID office, etc.).
You may pre-complete the Application for ID Card and the Request for Letter of Employment prior to your arrival, but you cannot submit it to your secretary until you arrive. Your secretary will help you with the In-Processing forms. If your school does not have a secretary, your principal will assign someone to help you.
