For this assignment, our class was participating in a contest for the best design. We had to make a design about the company while fitting requirements and keeping it original. We also had to follow the rules and required settings for logos and illustrator.
This is my sketch idea for the Volvo SkillsUSA contest. I made another sketch before this one but when reviewing the terms of the contest, I realized my original sketch had too many details for a pin or logo or anything like it. I changed the design to something more simplistic and got a construction bucket for a machine. I put in the text needed but I knew it would need to be adjusted in Illustrator.
This is my final design of the pin. I outlined and colored at the same time since I was using darker colors for shades on certain parts of the bucket. I messed around with different fonts as well and found this one. I made sure it was aligned in the middle of the bucket and I fixed the other piece of text. It didn't look right on the top, and once I had it on the bottom, I adjusted it so the text wasn't under the shaded side of the bucket. Finally, the plain, white background wasn't good and since the design's grey, there wasn't much color or brightness. I added a yellow hexagon as the background to give more to it, but I wish I had the outer parts of the hexagon black instead of white.
