To strengthen students’ listening skills and language awareness, our school holds a weekly English storytelling session every Tuesday morning. One English teacher visits a different class each week to read carefully selected English picture books. All first and second-grade classes take turns participating. Through engaging stories and interactive reading, students are immersed in a natural language environment, building both interest and confidence in English learning from an early age.
A big happy frog, a plump purple cat, a handsome blue horse, and a soft yellow duck-- all parade across the pages of this delightful book. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, written and illustrated by Eric Carle, tells the story of a tiny caterpillar who hatches from an egg and begins to eat his way through a variety of foods. Each day of the week, he eats increasing amounts and different types of food, eventually getting a stomachache. After resting and eating a green leaf, he feels better, forms a cocoon, and transforms into a beautiful butterfly.
This classic story introduces days of the week, counting, food vocabulary, and the life cycle of a butterfly in a colorful and engaging way.
