I attended Stokes County Schools as a student and graduated from South Stokes High School. I studied at the University of North Carolina at Greensboro and received an elementary education degree with a math concentration. I returned to UNCG to earn a Master's of Education in Curriculum and Instruction. I also have Academically and Intellectually Gifted licensure and am a National Board Certified Teacher. The first twelve years of my teaching career were spent at Mount Olive Elementary where I was a third grade teacher for six years and AIG teacher for six years. I served 4th and 5th grade AIG students at both Mount Olive Elementary and Poplar Springs Elementary in the areas of reading and math for five years from 2012-2017. This year will be my third year teaching and learning with fifth graders full time at Poplar Springs, and I am excited! I will continue to organize the spelling bee and math fair for our school, and I will be helping Mrs. Duncan with our Battle of the Books team.
I love my family! My husband, Doug, also works for Stokes County Schools as Chief Academic Officer. We have two sons and a daughter. David Lee is a third grader this year, and Jonathan is a second grader. Annabeth is four and and has one more year of preschool before she becomes a Pioneer too!
