This Lent, Pax will dive into a 5-week Lenten Study exploring The Bible & The Mass, beginning Ash Wednesday, February 22, 2023.

Where do we find the Mass in the Bible? What is the relationship between the two? In ten beautifully produced lessons, Parousia: The Bible and the Mass answers these questions and more.

Discover why the liturgy is a major theme that runs through the entire Bible, from Genesis to the Book of Revelation. We will not only look to the Law, the Prophets, and life and teachings of Jesus, we’ll also lean on the Doctors of the Church to enhance our understanding of the Mass. We’ll see how the New Testament is concealed in the Old, the Old is revealed in the New, and why both point directly to the Mass, the sign of the New Covenant.

Join host Dr. Scott Hahn and Study Leaders Dr. Holly Smith and Emileigh Ledgerwood to uncover how and why all of God’s action, in creation and redemption, is ordered to the Mass.

Supplemental readings come from Sacred Scripture, The Catechism of the Catholic Church, and four of Scott Hahn’s books on which the study is based: The Lamb’s Supper, Consuming the Word, The Fourth Cup, and Letter and Spirit: From Written Text to Living Word in the Liturgy.

Join the email list for weekly reminders by emailing Dr. Holly Smith at hsmith@stmm.org

Fr. Lou Meiman, pastor of St. Frances of Rome and St. Leonard parishes, will offer a free talk on Science and Religion Through the Ages at both parishes in March. Fr. Lou specifically wants to invite young Catholics to join us because in his words:

"Statistical studies confirm my own experience that one of the leading causes of young people leaving the church is the idea that science and religion are incompatible. Central to that idea is the Galileo myth. This tells me that as Catholics we aren't doing our job in doing justice to the church's long relationship with science. Using the complexity of Galileo's life and case, and the development of astronomy, astrophysics and life sciences, I would like to show that science has always been a part of the Christian worldview, and that relationship has developed significantly across the centuries."

We are happy to share with you a very exciting opportunity for us to learn about our Catholic faith and transform our relationship with the Church. This is through The Catechism in a Year podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz. This podcast, launching January 1st, will take us through the entire Catechism of the Catholic Church. Fr. Mike will offer encouragement and insight on the readings as we go to help us clearly understand Church teaching and allow those truths to shape our lives, day by day.

Maybe you’ve only ever read parts of the Catechism, or maybe you aren’t familiar with this book at all. Regardless of your current knowledge of the Catechism or our faith, this podcast will help you learn more and grow closer to God. The Catechism discusses and explains the teachings of the Catholic Church, a Church founded by Jesus Christ over 2,000 years ago. It’s rooted in Scripture and because we’ll be reading it in podcast form, it is easy and accesibile. Each of the daily episodes will be about 15-20 minutes long, making it easy to listen to while driving into work, going on your daily walk, or drinking your morning coffee. The podcast is completely free and available on all major podcast apps and YouTube.

To join us in this journey through the Catechism, visit AscensionPress.com/CIY to download the reading plan. Then you can find out online group on Facebook by visit the link below.
