Upcoming Service Opportunities

Service opportunities are open to all 7-12th grade youth of the St. Margaret Mary Community (and friends) as of the 2022-2023 school year unless noted otherwise.

Jr High Fall Mission Trip

Amidst stunning mountains and deep, shaded hollows, Appalachia is home to generations of proud families, many wrestling with the despair of extreme poverty. Hand-in-Hand helps ease their burdens by providing home repairs and food support. They operate a retreat center in Auxier, Kentucky and their service area includes Floyd, Johnson, Magoffin and Martin counties.

Volunteers, guided by local contractors, fuel their home repair program. Groups come from neighboring cities and states to stay at the Auxier Center to enjoy the beauty of the Appalachian Mountains, and offer a helping hand to the region. Their financial support and willingness to lend a hand is critical to the success of our program.

Who: 7-9th Grade (22-23 School Year)

When: October 13-15th

Cost: $200. Scholarships Available.

Note: The cost of this trip is $200. If a student is unable to attend due to financial reasons, please contact Emileigh Ledgerwood at eledgerwood@stmm.org to discuss assistance.

Deadline to sign up is August 31, 2022

Confirmation Information 2022-2023

Rising 8th grade families, if you did not attend either Confirmation Session, please stop by the Parish office to pick up a packet and prayer/service booklet. Please come by ASAP to pick up this information!

We are still finalizing details like the exact date for Confirmation with the Archdiocese. Please be working on your service and prayer booklets. I will be reviewing them the first week or so of school to check in and see how you did over the summer.

As a reminder, you can and should be completing service experiences now. The prayer portion of your booklet asks for you to record prayer experiences and Mass journals over the summer as well. We have several prayer opportunities like the upcoming Sarah Hart concert this Sunday at 6:30 PM and VENTUS on Wednesday July 6th from 6:30-8 PM. There are multiple upcoming service opportunities like Franciscan Kitchen, WaterStep, Cemetery Clean Up, Saturday Serve, and our Fall Appalachian trip with Hand-in-Hand. You can find all current sign ups posted here: https://bit.ly/StMMSignUp.

Venture: Teen Bible Study

Starting this fall, on Sundays from 11:30 AM – 12:30 PM (the same time as PREP), we will be offering a high school group to gather for study, prayer, and fellowship. We will kick start our year with the new study from Mark Hart (The Bible Geek). Deadline to register is Wednesday, August 31st. Start date will be Sunday, September 11, 2022.

Venture: The Bible Timeline for High School introduces teenagers to the “big picture” of salvation history in a way that is simple to understand and easy to teach. It uses the revolutionary Great Adventure Bible Timeline® Learning System that hundreds of thousands of Catholic adults have used to learn the Bible. This eight-lesson program will get teens to open their Bibles and learn the story of salvation history—from Genesis to Revelation—with a focus on God’s covenants and biblical characters. Once teens understand the Bible, their faith will become a relevant and indispensable part of their lives.
