We are happy to share with you a very exciting opportunity for us to learn about our Catholic faith and transform our relationship with the Church. This is through The Catechism in a Year podcast with Fr. Mike Schmitz. This podcast, launching January 1st, will take us through the entire Catechism of the Catholic Church. Fr. Mike will offer encouragement and insight on the readings as we go to help us clearly understand Church teaching and allow those truths to shape our lives, day by day.

Maybe you’ve only ever read parts of the Catechism, or maybe you aren’t familiar with this book at all. Regardless of your current knowledge of the Catechism or our faith, this podcast will help you learn more and grow closer to God. The Catechism discusses and explains the teachings of the Catholic Church, a Church founded by Jesus Christ over 2,000 years ago. It’s rooted in Scripture and because we’ll be reading it in podcast form, it is easy and accesibile. Each of the daily episodes will be about 15-20 minutes long, making it easy to listen to while driving into work, going on your daily walk, or drinking your morning coffee. The podcast is completely free and available on all major podcast apps and YouTube.

To join us in this journey through the Catechism, visit AscensionPress.com/CIY to download the reading plan. Then you can find out online group on Facebook by visit the link below.

Summer Opportunities 2023

One Bread, One Cup 2023

Are you a high school youth who will have completed 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade as of this summer? Are you looking for ways to grow your leadership skills and learn how to serve the Church in various liturgical ways? If so, I want to invite you to attend One Bread, One Cup this summer.

One Bread, One Cup is a five-day liturgical leadership conference focusing on the Word, Sacrament and Mission of the Roman Catholic Church for high school youth groups and their campus and youth ministers. Conferences focus on community building, leadership development, catechesis, liturgical and spiritual formation, and theological reflection. High school youth participants must have completed 9th, 10th, 11th, or 12th grade.

The total cost is $550. There are two different summer sessions available: June 12-16, 2023 (Conference 1) and June 26-30, 2023 (Conference 2).*

For more information from St. Meinrad's website about OBOC, visit: https://www.saintmeinrad.edu/youth/summer-conferences/.

If you are ready to take a leap of faith or and say yes to this incredible week then email Mrs. Ledgerwood and we will coordinate your attendance to the Conference.

Mission Trip: Alive in You

This year our mission trip for the summer is to the Alive in You in Knoxville, TN! Alive in You is a Catholic mission trip & conference program (more details below) for middle school and high school students. We are adding on a “fun” day at the beginning of our trip, June 26. The trip itself is June 26-July 2. We are partnering with other parishes because that helps lower the cost of the trip for all of us, and allows us to bring more students. The trip is open to current seventh through twelfth graders who attend St. Edward, St. Margaret Mary, Immaculate Conception, or are registered in one of those churches youth groups.

We are charging $350 for the trip, even though the actual cost for each student is well over $500. An initial non-refundable deposit of $100 is due with registration in order to reserve spots. In order to alleviate this financial burden for families, we will be having several fundraisers in the coming months. The final payment for students will be due on May 15, 2023. Each parish has scholarships available, so please do not hesitate to reach out to your youth minister if cost is a worry for you.

About Alive in You: https://aliveinyou.com/

From their website: “The vision of Alive in You is to enable our participants to open their hearts and allow Christ to become the center of their lives. Our goal is to educate, motivate and provide young people with a life changing Catholic experience. Alive in You is grounded in the beliefs and teachings of the Catholic Church and we strive to provide the perfect balance of faith, service, education and fun. It is most important that our participants return home with a practical sense of how to live their faith. Through education and experiencing the Sacraments, they will have a renewed sense of their Catholic identity and a firm foundation to continue their walk with Christ.”

Behold Advent Study (New Time on Sundays)

Let the Holy Family be your light through Advent as you receive the healing power of Christ.

In this beautiful guided journal for prayer and meditation, Sr. Miriam James Heidland, SOLT—author of the bestselling book Restore—will walk with you as you explore familial wounds with the help of Jesus, Mary, and Joseph.

Join us this Advent as we journey together with the Holy Family. Weekly gatherings to watch a video by Sr. Miriam James Heidland and discussions on that week's reflections will guide us as we prepare our hearts to celebrate the birth of Christ.

Our first meeting will be on Sunday, December 11th at 6:15 PM. We will meet the four Sundays of Advent from 6:15-7:15 PM. Bring a snack to share! There is still time to join us at any point in the course of the study.

Please contact Emileigh Ledgerwood with any questions. We hope you will join us this Advent as we journey together! All are welcome.
