The Arts

We encourage success in all areas, The Arts gives learners the opportunity to explore, refine, challenge, perform and celebrate their creative selves. They will connect thinking, imagination, senses and feelings through movement, sound and image to create works and to respond to the work of others.

We began to review our arts curriculum by looking at drama in 2018 and will continue with further review in 2020.

Drama

We deliberately teach elements, techniques and conventions in drama in a range of contexts allowing children to express their imagination, thoughts and feelings. Children share through formal and informal presentations. We explicitly teach the language of drama. We focus specifically on drama in term 2 each year and the senior school do a production in even years.

We will make an overall judgement about curriculum level in drama with extra weight on practical knowledge. Before we teach, we look at exemplars as a team and establish our overall direction and consistency of judgement.
