I am a native German teacher, born and raised in Germany. I began to learn English as my first foreign language at the age of seven years old. Foreign Language Learning is fostered and required in the German school system. English is a mandatory subject which I took throughout my entire education. I was fascinated by learning languages and soon started learning Latin and Spanish as my third and fourth languages.
In 1990, to improve my English even more by being immersed in the language, I became a foreign exchange student and studied at Union County College, while living with a host family in Westfield, New Jersey. After the completion of my BA in Marketing in Germany in 1994, I returned to the United States and worked in the fields of Transportation and Forwarding and later as Interpreter and Translator for a private Language School in Princeton, New Jersey.
I began teaching German in the high school setting in September of 2015 and teach German I, German II, German III, and German IV/ AP at Saint Joseph High School in Metuchen, New Jersey. Here I am not only a teacher but the moderator for the German National Honor Society, the Moderator of the School's Tutoring Program, and the Moderator of the Respect Life Club. In addition, I am the faculty coordinatior and facilitator of the "Learning German through Gaming" Club. I recently initiated a virtual exchange program with a partner school in Mönchengladbach Germany, to foster additional authentic language exposure for my students.
