HS Digital Art

Zoe Burkett – Rocket Lamp

Sponsor: Mr. Culver

Although this might not seem like a tech project, I was able to combine my traditional art skills with new digital technologies to create this lamp. I began with sketches and basic designs and then used adobe illustrator to create a net of my pieces. Using the Glowforge, I was able to make mockups out of different materials so I could perfect my design. The final piece is cut with the Glowforge from the finished Illustrator file out of acrylic which I assembled by hand. This project took approximately a month of in-class work to complete as Mr Culver and I had to learn how to work the new machine with the programming we had. This project has been huge for me to learn how the product design industry is using new technology like the Glowforge laser which will help me in my future as a product designer.

Emma Cohoon – Glyphs

Sponsor: Mrs. Beam

This is a project I made with hieroglyphic characters. I used Adobe Illustrator. I selected the characters and then I made a reflection of it so it would spread to both sides of the paper. The assignment was to make 4 different glyph character works. I spent probably around 5 class periods working on it.

Tiana Keeler – Choke On Caution

Sponsor: Mr. Culver

As an AP Studio Art student, I'm required to have a finished portfolio by the end of the school year. This piece was originally made as a Scholastic Art Awards submission, but I also decided to add this to the Selected Works section of my portfolio. With that said, I spent about nine hours creating this piece from start to finish in a program called Clip Paint Studio. Within the program I sketched concept ideas, the final idea, lined the artwork, painted the piece, and added in details as needed. I titled the piece "Choke on Caution" to reference the literal and figurative title of the piece. The scribbles flowing out of the character's head represents negative, clouded thoughts. The hands reaching into the head represents paranoia of other people and the feeling of being judged/observed. Overall, the piece is meant to describe paranoia and fear in a visual way.

Megan Lesch – Faded Geometric

Sponsor: Mrs. Beam

I created my artwork with Adobe Illustrator. I used many different tools such as: shape builder tool, pen tool, gradient, transparency etc. The assignment was free choice but still have to use illustrator. This piece took about 3 hours. ( 3 days but one hour in those 3 days.) I really like this artwork because it shows how much I appreciate geometric art.

Megan Lesch – Scribble

Sponsor: Mrs. Beam

This project took a little more work than my normal pieces. First I took a piece of paper and scribbled. Looked at many things and just drew. I took a picture of the paper. Uploaded it into adobe photoshop and zoomed in a cropped the photo. Then I did my magic into adobe illustrator and change the colors of the lines. The assignment was to expand our horizons beyond just the computer and use paper. This project took about 4 hours.

Savannah Overton –Downers

Sponsor: Mrs. Beam

I started off this piece by sketching it out on a piece of paper. I then took a picture of the paper and put it into adobe illustrator. I had done a music inspired piece in my graphic arts class for fun and my teacher liked the idea of it so much that she had the whole class do it. This is the piece I did for the assignment of a music inspired piece in class. I picked a song, listened to it and took into account how it made me feel. I worked approximately 10 hours on this piece.

Livinia Rosenthal – Bed Sheet Buddies

I'm working on a project concerning the connection between children and the paranormal. This is just one piece of soon to be many. To create this I used my Wacom drawing tablet and an app called SketchBook on my laptop. I spent 4-5 hours on this.

This piece was made for a Cubism project in my art 5/6 class. It's not really cubism but I think it turned out pretty sick and is one of my best digital pieces in my mind. I used my Wacom drawing tablet and an app called SketchBook on my laptop to make this piece. If I had to guess how long I spent on it I'd say around 3-4 hours.
